Quote from George: Our greatest weakness is to worship ourselves instead of the Creator. Even in church, we go to worship mostly to enjoy ourselves and to feel good about ourselves. It needs to pump us up and lift our spirits. If we don’t get that consistently, we contemplate changing churches. Every message, every aspect points to “me”, “my needs” and my family’s needs and seems to have little to do with Jesus, His body or His call to forsake all and follow Him. True worship has nothing to do with “me”, “my style of music”, or tradition. It has everything to do with Jesus. When is the last time we had a true sacrifice of praise that had a cost attached to it instead of a benefit. True worship can only come by the Spirit. The more we realize who Jesus is and what He has done, the closer we will come to true worship.
Betty Bouma is Associate Pastor
